Where should I save my bash scripts?

I’m using Web Host Manager and cPanel to access a Virtual Private Server (Linux) and would like to run a bash script on the server. Can someone tell me how and where I should upload the bash file to so that I can run it using a shell program?

Check with your hosting company where they expect things to go. As long as the directory is in the path then the bash scripts will be found, but different hosting companies put different paths in place so your helpdesk is the best place to go.

    You can store it anywhere.

You would need to use SSH and a client such as PuTTy. Typically, you wouldn’t run such as root, so you’d enable jailed or normal shell for the user and SSH in as them. Then you can create the script with nano or vi or pico, or any other editor of your preference, and execute it by either chmod +x’ing the script, or just ‘sh scriptname’.
