Find a web host that uses Fantastico, a web based installer that will auto-install WordPress (amongst many other open-source web applications) and create the databases you need to use it. It will also let you create backups.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website/weblog. If you are going to create your blog website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: http://www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your blog online at your purchased domain name.

If you’re going to start your blog at your own domain with different pages, you need a web host providing wordpress.

    Take a look at:
    http://www.threehosts.com/blog
There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the blog/wordpress website hosting industry.

    Another useful link:
    http://www.threehosts.com/create
There you can find a step-by-step guide to start your website.

    Hope this helps.

A host is just a place that rents Web space for a small fee. It is generally understood that you will be using a domain registered to you. (Many hosts will register a domain for you at the same time you set up a hosting account. This simplifies matters considerably.) Be sure the host can accommodate WordPress. Requirements: http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

Once you have the hosting account and the domain in place, you need to set up a database (using the host’s access panel); you would then edit the configuration file of WordPress (wp-config.php) to point to that database, upload the entire package via FTP (some hosts have a WebFTP client, or you can download Filezilla), and run the WordPress install. Takes a lot longer to upload the files than it does to run the install, but neither should be over ten minutes or so. (Some hosts will actually install WordPress for you, which requires you to do nothing but click on the option on your host’s panel.)

After that, almost anything you need to do can be done through your own WordPress dashboard (yourdomain.com/wp-admin/).

GoDaddy has a WordPress plan. Email them (it would be an expensive phone call from the UK) and ask them about the setup from the viewpoint of someone with no tech ability. (One of the reasons I use them is their great tech support.)

Once you have WordPress running, you should have no problems adding articles, etc.

I suggest that you set it up on your own computer first, just to work the bugs out – which template you like, what plugins you want and which ones sound good but don’t really live up to claims (there are some), etc. See http://rukbat.blogsite.org/wordpress/creating-a-website/ – that’s WordPress running on one of the computers in my house.
